Liverpool are being linked with another loan move, this time for Lorenzeo Melgarejo, a Paraguayan wingback from Benfica.

Melgarejo: Transfer Truth: 40%
We've already told you about Brendan Rodgers apparently trying to sign Aly Cissokho, but it's been reported today that they have an alternative full-back in mind, and are pursuing Melgarejo to provide competition for Jose Enrique.

The Paraguayan 22-year-old moved to Europe in 2011 when he joined Benfica, but has spent much of his time there on loan at Pacos Ferreira.

His abilities going forwards caught the eye at Pacos in 2011/12, where he scored 10 goals, so it was no surprise that Benfica wanted to keep him for themselves last season.

He didn't quite have the same impact, but did get into the first team and played against Chelsea in the Europa League final.

His versatility make Melgarejo a good bet for Rodgers, given his ability to play left-back or left-wing, and reports suggest that the initial loan move would be with the intention of making it a permanent transfer after a year.

Our Truth-O-Meter
This is a very widely-reported rumour, which usually means that there's something to it, but can also just mean that everyone's copying a lie because they can't be bothered checking up on it.

Melgarejo would be a decent addition to the Liverpool squad by the looks of him, and he'd certainly give Rodgers a few more options, while an initial loan deal means that it wouldn't be a risk.

The only potential issue might be a work permit one, but if Liverpool are trying to sign him, they'll be hoping his international experience will help push it through.
