Transfer Truth: The Truth on Koscielny to Bayern
Posted on Jul 2nd, 2013 by Matt Styrka
Laurent Koscielny has repeatedly been linked with a move away from The Emirates during this summer, but it seems we can now let the dust settle on this one as the 27 year old Frenchman has finally spoken out to end the speculation.
Koscielny: Transfer Truth: 5%
For reasons inexplicable to us there have been strong links made between the Arsenal center back and Pep Guardiola's new team in Germany. A few days ago Koscielny moved to end any speculation as reported in The Metro:
I feel very well at Arsenal. I am aware it’s a great club and I have a four-year contract. I know there’s talk about me and Barcelona and Bayern, but people make their own conclusions. The facts are simple: I have a contract at a club where I am happy. Full stop. We all know how situations change in football but I repeat that I’m not one to make castles in the sky.
As if that wasn't enough he then went on to confirm that his ambitions lie very much with Arsene Wenger's team and that he has no desire to seek trophies elsewhere:
I live in the moment, I seek nothing but to play the best I can. In my mind my goal is to win trophies with Arsenal with whom I’m about to start pre-season training. I’ve no ulterior motives. I’m at a healthy club, which plays beautiful football, has no debts, sticks to its own budget and plays in the Champions League. Not many players can say the same.
We have to commend Koscielny for being so committed to Arsenal at a time when other players motives have been brought in to question and at a time when so many players are throwing out the kind of comments which appear intended at closing the door to no one, ensuring their options remain open if a big money buyer comes in whilst trying to placate their own fans.
It sounds to us like Koscielny is exactly the kind of player Arsenal should be holding on to if they want to build a squad full of the types of people that are after the best interest of the club
There were stories a few weeks ago linking Koscielny to Bayern and Barcelona and even though many also stated that Arsenal had slapped a £20m price on his head and issued the classic "hands off" warning, even though these were largely unsubstantiated. The recent comments from Koscielny are everything we need to call time on this little rumour so we're giving this rumour a truth rating of just 5%.
