Tottenham vs Chelsea - Predictions from 8,000 Players

The London derby at White Hart Lane has split our crowd, but the one defining thing is that there is very little backing for Mourinho's boys.

Tottenham Form
Spurs may have left it very late at Cardiff last week but that win means they have 12 points from 5 games and are riding high in the league table. Tottenham haven't exactly been flush with goals this season having scored more than a single goal on just one occasion. Their early success has been built on a rock solid defence.

Only Arsenal have managed to breach the Spurs back line so far leaving them with a league high of 4 clean sheets from the first 5. AVB's team have conceded an average of just 7 shots per game, the fewest in the league. That tells you how hard their midfield works and how well organised they are. They will be incredibly difficult for a gun shy Chelsea side to break down and with an average of 21 shots per game, Tottenham also rank as number one on that statistical table too. You could well argue they have been unlucky not have had a higher goal tally so far.

Chelsea Form
Chelsea have received much criticism over their style of play so far this season, often found a little cautious and defensive but their stats tell the story of a very good side. Only Tottenham have managed more shots on goal than Chelsea this season so Chelsea don't have any trouble firing at goal but the quality of opportunities crated and the finishing has been left wanting.

The big tactical change for the Blues has been that their wingers, which played like left and right attackers last season have now been pushed back and are expected to provide defensive cover, a role the likes of Hazard and Schurrle are still adjusting to and one for which Mata has so far been found unsuitable by Mourinho.

Whilst Chelsea have looked solid at the back the lack of any league goals from Torres, Ba or Eto'o is concerning and they may find it difficult to break down a well gelled Tottenham back line.

Our Prediction
Whilst both sides rank in the top 2 for average shots on target taken and conceded per game so far this season, neither has excelled in front of goal yet. When strong defences meet attacks lacking goals the defences usually come out on top by virtue of sheer numbers so this game is set up to be a tight, cagey sort of affair. The form and stats certainly don't suggest that goals are on the cards and with both teams likely to see a draw as a good result we're going predict exactly that.
