Top 3 Liverpool Players For Your Fantasy Football Team This Season

Posted on Aug 6th, 2013 by Araz Heydariyehzadeh

Brendan Rodgers has been a busy boy this summer and with expectations high at Liverpool once again, there could be some cracking Liverpool players to look out for this season.

1. Daniel Sturridge
Sturridge had a ruthless run in the Liverpool team at the end of last season which made him a must have bargain for fantasy managers across the land. 11 goals and 5 assists gave him a goal contributed for every 78 minutes of game time, a tally that can only just be bettered by Van Persie on 76.

The expectation is that with Suarez suspended for the first 6 games of the season, Sturridge will thrive in his role as the main man and with his price some distance below the likes of Van Persie and Aguero, the Liverpool man could could not only return a top drawer points tally, but also be exceptional value too, especially with the addition of quality creative players around him.

2. Steven Gerrard
With his 2011/12 season left in tatters by injury, some questioned whether or not the 33 year old was past his prime. Last season he proved everyone wrong scoring and assisting more goals than he had done for the previous 3 seasons. His tally of 10 goals and 12 assists might be a little way behind the likes of Mata, Bale and Walcott but if you're looking for a top class midfielder, playing in a top class team but without the price tag of the other three then Gerrard could fit the bill and save you some cash. Gerrard is not the kind of player who will allow his legs to give way, especially when there is a World Cup place to cement.

3. Glen Johnson
Only Manchester City kept more league clean sheets than Liverpool's 16 last season, and Glen Johnson was present for every single one of those notching up a big total of fantasy points. He also chipped in with 5 assists and would probably expected a few more than the 1 goal he got. Whilst he does carry a premium he is still cheaper than Baines, Ivanovic and co on most fantasy games making him an excellent choice if you need to trim a few quid off your budget.

Potential Bargain: Iago Aspas
Aspas got 12 goals and 7 assists from 34 appearances in a Celta Vigo team that only just avoided relegation last season. His eye for goal and ability to play on the wings could afford him more game time than his bargain price in most fantasy games currently suggests. Speculation has it that he will be deployed in Downing's position and from there he could find himself as one of the bargains of the season if he gets regular game time and settles quickly.

Kolo Toure is also worth a look. With the former Manchester City man getting very little game time last season he is available at a knock down price in most fantasy games and if he is Rodgers' preferred center back choice he could be a huge bargain in a Liverpool team that keeps a large number of clean sheets.
