Top 3 Chelsea Players to Have in Your Fantasy Football Team

Posted on Aug 2nd, 2013 by Araz Heydariyehzadeh

Having covered Arsenal in a previous article we now take a look at the top 3 Chelsea players that you should stick in your fantasy football team this season.

1. Juan Mata
One of the best players in the Premier League last season would have benefited from a little more rest this summer than he has been afforded in previous years. This could mean he can improve on the ridiculous 11 goals and 18 assists which gave him an astonishing tally of goal contributed for every 94 minutes of game time throughout last season.

Whilst he comes at a premium in most games and is more expensive than the equally attractive Hazard, we think he's worth every penny and will continue to improve.

2. Romelu Lukaku
The powerhouse Belgian had an outstanding season at West Brom in 2012/13 with a return of 17 goals and 7 assists. That's a world class tally of 85 minutes per goal contributed which got him a ranking of 5th best attacker in the Premier League in our analysis last season.

If Mourinho stays true to his word and gives the youngster a fair crack at the whip his valuation, which is far less than Ba or Torres, could make him one of the bargain buys of the season.

3. Eden Hazard
A frighteningly good first season in the Premier League brought Hazard 9 goals and 16 assists (a goal for every 105 minutes of game time). He started the season off at a thunderous pace too so he should be in your considerations for the start of the season at least, and especially you're struggling for the premium fee carried by Mata. He'll be eager to continue impressing in a world cup year and the extra competition brought by the signing of Schurrle might help motivate even more exceptional performances out of the Belgian.

Potential Bargain: Cesar Azpilicueta
It's difficult to know what plans Mourinho has for the center of his defence, but the likely scenario is that Ivanovic will be preferred in his best position at center back leaving the right back position for Azpilicueta, where he was a regular for most of the end of last season. His 6 assists last season were a huge bonus for a defender, in fact only Baines produced more with 7 so he carries both a strong attacking threat as well as benefiting from what will be a solid Chelsea defence that will notch up a lot of clean sheets.
