Predictions from 8,000 Players on: Fulham vs. Arsenal

Posted on Aug 23rd, 2013 by Araz Heydariyehzadeh

Arsenal's abysmal start to the Premier League season has left many of our 8,000 players in serious doubt as to whether or not the Gunners can take the 3 points they are expected to from Craven Cottage this weekend with 43% thinking Fulham will get at least a point and 57% backing Arsenal for the win.

Fulham started the season with a good win away at Sunderland but the concern for them would have been how few chances they crated and how many they conceded. Martin Jol's men managed just 5 shots in the match with only one on target whilst Sunderland had 20 attempts on goal.

The arrival of Darren Bent is likely to remedy the situation a little and Scott Parker is an excellent addition too which will and give them more of a threat and more steel at home. Fulham also do have an excellent record against The Gunners in recent years. Last season they grabbed a 3-3 draw at The Emirates and were only defeated 1-0 at Craven Cottage during Arsenal's best run of form toward the end of the season.

Arsenal looked rusty and lacklustre at The Emirates last week but bounced back well with a good win in the Champions League qualifier in midweek. It's hard to tell how they will do in this match but over their last two there have been signs of life with Ramsey, Walcott, Wildhere and Giroud all sparkling. If the likes of Cazorla and Podolski can contribute a little more we should expect to see Arsenal back at their best before too long, even if their squad is very thin and they have looked shaky at the back.

Whilst there are still no new additions the pressure is really on for Wenger and we expect his players will really go out in this match with the bit betweeen their teeth and playing like they have something to prove.

Our Prediction
Fulham have claimed plenty of giant scalps at Craven Cottage in recent years and may well cause Arsenal problems so we were severely tempted by going for the draw in this game but have swayed towards Arsenal edging it.

Wenger's side have seen plenty of tough times in the past few seasons and more often than not, when their backs have really been up against the wall, they have produced match winning performances and ground out the right results just as they did when it looked like they were going to miss out on 4th place last season and went on to win 8 of their last 10 games. Whilst it's too early to be calling crisis at Arsenal we think their players will be determined to right last week's wrong and they have the ability to edge the game.
