Arsenal's Player of the Week for GW2

Posted on Aug 28th, 2013 by Araz Heydariyehzadeh

Arsenal bounced back from their opening day defeat to Villa with a very good win over Fulham at Craven Cottage. There were a number of outstanding performers including Podolski and Ramsey but one man stood out above the rest for us.

Santi Cazorla
After a tired first week showing Cazorla bounced back to full fitness and form in cracking style, just pipping Aaron Ramsey and Podolski to our award this week.

Against Fulham he was a constant threat creating 6 key passes (2nd highest tally in the league last week) and an assist. Even though he wasn't as involved in the game as Ramsey, who had the 3rd highest completed passes in the entire league with 70, Cazorla chipped in with 59 completed passes and an astonishing accuracy of 94%, the highest of any midfielder who completed 90 minutes last weekend. That helped Arsenal make great use of possession and really hurt Fulham at key moments in the game.

Cazorla also produced an excellent performance against Fenerbahce in midweek where he had more shots (4) and completed more dribbles (6) than anyone else on the pitch.

There were quite a few contenders for Arsenal's improving side this week but Santi Cazorla gets our award thanks to the constant threat he poses to the opposition and how his play helped those around him open up the two sides Arsenal faced last week.
