Arsenal vs. Liverpool - Predictions From 9,000 Players

Posted on Nov 2nd, 2013 by Araz Heydariyehzadeh

The biggest game of this weekend comes from The Emirates in Saturday's late kick off as the two league leaders go head to head. Our pundits are making Arsenal the favourites so what hope is there for Brendan Rodgers' men?

The Gunners have so far exceeded all expectations by battling through their injury hit squad to establish themselves as the league leaders having won 7 of their last 8 games.

This will be only their 2nd major test of the season though. So far they've only played Tottenham from the big 6 and came through that game with a 1-0 win. The question over Wenger's men has always been whether or not they ability to beat the other big sides so this will be a real test for them but could be one that casts many doubts aside if they can get the result.

There is no doubt that this Arsenal can score goals, their tally of 20 is 6 more than at the same stage last season and can only be bettered by Manchester City so far this season. They will trouble Liverpool going forward, though there is a small question mark over defensive capabilities. Arsenal have kept just 2 clean sheets all season and strike force like Liverpool's will be a dangerous test of their title credentials.

Liverpool too are exceeding expectations so far. The irrepressible SAS means they are capable of winning any game and coming up against an Arsenal defence that has contained errors this season they should be looking for goals.

Rodgers' 3-4-1-2 formation has failed to keep a clean sheet in the last 6 and with Arsenal likely to flood the midfield Liverpool could find themselves under a serious amount of pressure on the edge of their own box. If the midfield men don't put in a big shift it could be Arsenal on the front foot and Liverpool playing counter for most of the game.

Our Prediction
With two fantastic attacks, and two questionable defences going head to head we should be expecting goals. Liverpool will be deadly on the counter attack whilst Arsenal will look to get the ball down and command the play in the Liverpool third where they are likely to have a lot of bodies and great movement.

The key to this game will be whether or not Arsenal can maintain the ruthless streak they've had in front of goal for most of the season. If they can get their shots away they will command the game but with Liverpool having what is effectively 5 at the back it could end up being a frustrating afternoon for Arsenal.

If Liverpool can keep their defence tight it's almost certain that the SAS will score goals at the other end so our bet for this game is going to be a narrow Arsenal win in a game where both teams will score.
